ORGANIZATION: Easter Seals Central and Southeast Ohio

Easterseals’ purpose is to change the way the world defines and views disability by making profound, positive differences in people’s lives every day. Easterseals Central and Southeast Ohio is looking for candidates for board membership. Board members are expected to attend board meetings that are held 4 times per year, make a personal financial contribution, attend major fundraising events, and serve on at least one committee of the board. Interested candidates should submit their resume for consideration. Full description below:

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Director of the Board

PURPOSE: To change the way the world defines and views disabilities by making profound, positive differences in people’s lives every day.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Support the mission, vision, values and goals of Easterseals Central & Southeast Ohio.
  2. Participate in discussions concerning recruiting individuals to be Directors.
  3. Replace yourself on the Board when you are ending your term.
  4. Attend meetings of the Board of Directors: Four meetings are scheduled each year. Minimum attendance expected of each individual Board member is 50%.
  5. Serve on at least one committee and attend committee meetings: Board members are encouraged to attend all meetings of the committees on which they serve. However, attendance at 50% of the meetings is expected at a minimum.
  6. Prepare for and participate in board and committee meetings: Read and understand the consent agenda items and the organizational financial statements.
  7. Contribute expertise and participate in strategic development of Board and organization.
  8. Give and/or get a minimum of $5000 each year: Your personal contribution and event support are components of this requirement. Other ways to develop funding support include arranging introductions, participating in the letter writing (VIP) annual campaign, securing sponsorships, and assisting with foundation and corporate support.
  9. Make a personal contribution at the Presidents’ Council Level ($1000 and higher).
  10. Attend special events and support key fundraisers: The premiere event is Romancing the Grape. Significant fundraisers include Turkey Trot. Support the Romancing the Grape event, including purchasing or selling at least 4 VIP tickets.
  11. Represent Easterseals Central & Southeast Ohio: Be familiar with and speak in support of Easterseals and allow your name to be used in support of the Easterseals mission.
  12. Disclose any potential conflict of interest with Easterseals.
  13. Refrain from discussing or sharing confidential Board business with non-board members.
  14. Take part in program events through the Engagement Calendar.
