Serenity, Courage & Wisdom, Inc. (SC+W) is driven to support cancer survivors and bring awareness to GYN Cancers through the Creative Arts. Incorporated in 2011 by Keesha Carter, who faced stage 3 cervical cancer, SC+W began to form its wings when she realized her cancer experience in 2009 was far more than a personal journey. SC+W is on a mission to do its part in helping the journey for survivors all around the world to be a better experience.

We are looking for an excellent person to serve as our organization's Volunteer Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator.

Some typical responsibilities include:

  • Keep promotional materials ready by coordinating requirements with the print company, inventory stock, place orders, and verify receipts.
  • Support to write or edit forms, web invitations, templates, and other marketing documents.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments to develop long-term marketing and communications initiatives
  • Develop marketing and communications messages to promote the organization’s mission, news, events, membership benefits, and fundraising.
  • Generate press releases, promotional materials, and other marketing collateral.
  • Maintain consistency in the organization’s marketing and communications messages and branding.
  • Engage with press and news outlets.
  • Sourcing and securing advertising to promote the organization and its initiatives.
  • Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on marketing and communications performance for internal use.
  • Write engaging and impactful on-brand copy, connecting programs to customers and community, "owning" your project work and being accountable for its success in the marketplace.
  • Develop a marketing strategy for new events and programs.
  • Create and maintain newsletters to keep the Dream Team, sponsors, donors, community partners, volunteers, and clients updated with organization news and events.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors for services and products to be advertised.
  • Meet with clients to present campaigns and offer advice and strategies.
  • Research and plan advertising campaigns for various media platforms.
  • Monitor, review, and report on all marketing activity and results.
  • Analyze market trends and report findings to Leadership.
  • Prepare communications for release to local press and radio media.
  • Maintain a database of marketing materials (Toolkit), and project manages updates with the print company to ensure all materials are accurate and up to date.
  • Manage all marketing materials needed for major events, workshops, etc.

Other duties as needed

  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and orientations when necessary.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to define marketing materials and programs.
  • Work with the Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator to promote any fundraising events and provide materials to acknowledge and sustain our relationships with donors.
  • Partner with Coordinators, Managers, Directors, and Leadership to ensure materials that are produced are of the highest quality, reflect company guidelines, consistency of voice, and meet functional needs.
  • Crafts and posts press releases/news/announcements, and other timely information for external web properties including calendars, list serves, supporting 3rd party organizational site.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of all posted information and troubleshoot issues with all digital properties (websites, landing pages, analytics, etc.).

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with mailing campaigns.
  • Use creativity and innovation for new ideas for branding, advertising campaigns, and marketing messages.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work well independently.
  • Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and friendly demeanor in person and on the phone.
  • Ability to work with limited resources while still being creative and effective.
  • Ability to prioritize work, use good judgment, pay attention to detail, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, and promptly on an array of projects through to completion
  • Creative problem solver with the flexibility to manage situations as they arise.
  • Excellent organization skills and an understanding of systems and procedures.
  • Availability to attend events outside of business hours occasionally.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, copywriting experience is essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms for business (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel, the Internet, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Drive.
  • Knowledge of WIX, Slack, Asana, MailChimp, and IFTTT a plus.
  • Relevant Associate or Bachelor degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising or related field is a bonus and helpful.
