3ABF Care Team Volunteer Overview

About Us

3 "A" Bereavement Foundation (3ABF) offers a wide range of bereavement services for low-income and working poor in the Houston Metropolitan Area. Since inception, we have assisted almost 10,000 families heal from the loss of their loved one through emotional and financial support. 3ABF is the only organization in Houston offering comprehensive bereavement families and we are seeking volunteers to meet the demand of families in need.

Responsibilities

At 3ABF, we stay connected with bereaved families for up to 9 months after our initial contact to assess the need for additional services and/or simply to check in on them. Volunteering on our Care Team is easy! Simply call the individuals you support once or twice per month and mail them a greeting card on significant dates like birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. All of this can be done from your home on your schedule. We will provide all of the supplies that you need!

Commitment

- Minimum of 6 months
- Log each call and card to families on 3ABF check-in tracker

Requirements

- Must be 21 or older
- Good English speaking & writing skills; Bilingual English & Spanish speakers especially needed!
- Complete and submit the 3ABF Volunteer Application Form and related forms (the latter will be done on-site as part of orientation)
