Protecting this environmental treasure

The Arroyo Seco Foundation maintains several informative websites that promote volunteer participation and environmental stewardship. Many of the features are based on a series of online databases that use mysqli and php. We are looking for a volunteer experienced in online database management to help us update our website interface. We need occasional assistance to review the php and mysqli code to ensure smooth functioning of the applications.

We have an office at our native plant nursery in Pasadena, but most of this service can be provided remotely.

We are not looking for a newcomer eager to learn. We need an advisor who is experienced in online database management using mysqli, javascript and php. Please provide a resume of your background in this field. Send it with samples of your work to tim@arroyoseco.org.

Thanks for your interest in the Arrroyo Seco Foundation and in our activity to protect and restore this major tributary of the Los Angeles River.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Arroyo Seco Foundation is to preserve and enhance the Arroyo Seco from the San Gabriel Mountains to the Los Angeles River, reforest our region and promote environmental and cultural awareness of one of Southern California's greatest natural resources.

Description

The Arroyo Seco Foundation (ASF) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the Arroyo Seco watershed. ASF advocates an integrated, harmonious approach to watershed and flood management, water conservation, habitat enhancement as well as the expansion of recreational opportunities. Through action projects, recreation and environmental awareness activities, ASF strives to involve the residents and organizations in our region in this tremendous enterprise. ASF works to reforest the Arroyo Seco, the San Gabriel Mountains and the neighboring urban landscape with native shrubs and trees.

The activities of the Arroyo Seco Foundation enable local residents and businesses to become directly involved in the restoration of the Arroyo Seco and in the recreational and environmental opportunities available

Major Projects include:

  • Arroyo Seco Watershed Restoration -- This comprehensive approach to mountain and urban watershed management is a partnership of ASF and and the many organizations of the Council of Arroyo Seco Organizations (CASO).
  • Tours and Educational Events -- ASF offers a variety of types of tours of the Arroyo Seco and a series of educational programs about the habitat, culture and history of the Arroyo Seco.
  • Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery - ASF grows and cares for native and California-Friendly trees and plants at our nursery.
