Do you speak Cantonese or Mandarin? Are you a good listener? Are you caring, helpful and adaptable?
As a Bilingual Chinese/English Hospice Patient and Family Support Volunteer for Hospice by the Bay, you’ll be making a significant difference for someone facing end-of-life challenges. Your meaningful contributions will support the Hospice Care Team by:
> Providing companionship to patients
> Listening to life stories
> Playing their favorite music
> Reading a book
> Writing letters and memories
> Assisting with a favorite activity
> Running an errand or doing small chores
> Accompanying a patient on an outing
In return you’ll learn all about hospice care and receive comprehensive training to prepare you for working with our patients and their families.
"Just being trained as a volunteer was a moving experience at HBTB. The level of commitment, thoughtfulness and compassion were through the roof. And it’s continued like that. I feel so taken care of, even as I get the opportunity to care for others."
We hope you’ll consider joining our caring team! We’re especially looking for volunteers who live in San Francisco. Hospice by the Bay was founded by dedicated volunteers more than 40 years ago and they are still at the heart of what we do.
To apply, visit www.hbtb.org/volunteers/ or call (415) 626.5900 for more information.
