ORGANIZATION: San Francisco Public Library

Shared imagination will be celebrated during the first edition of Night of Ideas in San Francisco, co-presented by the San Francisco Public Library, Public Knowledge at SFMOMA, and the French Consulate in San Francisco. (See https://www.nightofideassf.com/)

Started in France, Night of Ideas has grown into a global phenomena (see https://www.lanuitdesidees.com/en/). In 2018, Nights were held in France and 65 other countries; from the Fiji Islands to Vancouver, and Helsinki to Johannesburg, more than 200,000 people gathered to think together with urbanists, artists, entrepreneurs, scientists, scholars, librarians, community organizers, and residents.

San Francisco's Night of Ideas will be held in the Main Library and include discussions, talks, readings, performances, film screenings, concerts, and much more, all around the theme of Facing Our Time.

We will need up to three dozen volunteers to help with:

+ checking in pre-registered participants
+ registering participants who did not pre-register
+ directing & guiding between event sites within the library
+ refreshments

Come volunteer for an hour or two and then join in the fun! To express interest and receive more info as planning progresses, please drop a line to volunteer.sfpl@gmail.com. Night Owls especially welcome--it does indeed run until 2:00 a.m.!
