Annual Point In Time Count - Polk Homeless Coalition

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Polk

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 7 people are interested

The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a count of unsheltered homeless persons on a single morning in January. HUD requires continuums of Care to conduct this count and to collect some basic demographic information from each person counted. Helping to identify the number of unsheltered homeless individuals in Polk County will help the area get funding to help defeat homelessness. Each count is planned, coordinated, and carried out locally. Teams are assembled of experienced service providers and community volunteers.

This will take place at the end of January with shifts beginning at 6am. You will be contacted about the many training dates available and further important information.

The Homeless Coalition of Polk County Florida facilitates the coordination and collaboration among organizations serving the homeless population of Polk County. They are the lead agency for the Lakeland/Winter Haven/Polk County Continuum of Care and facilitate the grant application process through the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
