The patient units are in need of volunteers to meet, greet and direct patients, visitors and all other customers. The Unit Secretary will be responsible for answering phones, call bells, and assistance with administrative functions, as needed.

It's a great way to gain experience in a healthcare setting. Complete training is provided.

Hours: once a week for 2-3 hours. Slots are Mon - Friday in the range of 3:30 -8pm. It could be 3:30-5:30, 4:00-6:00, etc. We work with your schedule.

Hospital for Special Care is a private, not-for-profit, 228 bed Long-Term, Acute-Care hospital licensed by the state of CT. as a chronic disease hospital. The hospital is renowned for its expertise in physical rehabilitation, respiratory care and medically-complex pediatrics. In addition, special programs are available in the treatment of spinal cord injuries and illness, acquired brain injuries, strokes and breathing disorders.

We also provide a full range of outpatient services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, rehabilitation evaluation, neuropsychology and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The hospital also includes a 27,000 foot Aquatic Rehabilitation Center, which completes the full spectrum of rehabilitation and community fitness activities offered.

We also have a 28 bed satellite facility located within Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. The satellite serves patients who are medically or surgically complex and/or require specialized care.
