Event Management Intern

Assist with the planning, management and execution of events at the Museum.
Terms of Internship: Interns will serve a minimum of 1 term (10 weeks), and can extend
internships to desired length, as agreed upon by the Marketing Manager. Most interns work
between 5 and 8 hours weekly, depending on their schedule and volunteer/internship
requirements. Weekend work will occur with this internship.
Duties
Collaborate with staff to determine the the activities, programmatic aims and overall event
needs. Update and maintain project management software (Asana). Communicate with staff
and outside parties concerning milestones, deliverables, due dates and responsibilities.
Occasional content creation (written content for social media). Update community calendars,
ScienceWorks website and databases with event information. Utilize the style guides and
branding standards set forth by the marketing manager, in a consistent manner.
Required Skills
Comfortable in Google Drive applications, online research and web-based tools. Eye for detail. Excellent communication skills (asks for help when needed, tells manager and coworker status of projects without being asked, communicates in a timely manner). Must like dogs.

ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum is an interactive science museum located in Ashland, Oregon, serving visitors of all ages throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. Founded in 2002 as a private response to a crisis in public science education, ScienceWorks is committed to inspiring wonder and stimulating creative exploration through fun interactive science.
We have a huge variety of volunteer opportunities available year-round! From facilitating hands-on activities with the public, to helping out in the back office, there's something for every temperament or area of interest. Our volunteers compliment, assist, and partner with the core paid museum staff in practically every facet of operation. We recognize that volunteers provide ScienceWorks with resources of experience and talent which are unique and necessary.
