Join the ScienceWorks Education team and help develop new, unique activities for our public programming! Interns will serve for a 10-week position, with extensions possible, and report to the Museum Program Coordinator.
Training (3 weeks):
- You will receive formal training with the Museum Program Coordinator
- During the first three weeks you will shadow/co-facilitate tinkering activities in DaVinci’s Garage
Practice (3 weeks):
- Be lead facilitator in DaVinci’s Garage
- Receive feedback from Museum Program Coordinator
Activity Development (3 weeks):
- Work with program staff to research and develop unique activities
- Lead facilitation activities in DaVinci’s Garage
Final Week(s):
- Facilitate your unique activity
- Receive feedback and continue to develop programming
Preferred Qualifications:
- Is currently enrolled in an educational or science field
- Enthusiasm for science education in all ages
- Willing to learn content and practice science concepts
- Ability to commit to a regular schedule
- Adaptability and flexibility is a must

Description
ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum is an interactive science museum located in Ashland, Oregon, serving visitors of all ages throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. Founded in 2002 as a private response to a crisis in public science education, ScienceWorks is committed to inspiring wonder and stimulating creative exploration through fun interactive science.
We have a huge variety of volunteer opportunities available year-round! From facilitating hands-on activities with the public, to helping out in the back office, there's something for every temperament or area of interest. Our volunteers compliment, assist, and partner with the core paid museum staff in practically every facet of operation. We recognize that volunteers provide ScienceWorks with resources of experience and talent which are unique and necessary. We strongly value this contribution , and hope to offer each volunteer a satisfying, productive, and rewarding experience.
