You can sign up for what time and what activities you can help us out with at:

Volunteers of all skill sets are needed, to either lead, assist or just provide a set of hands for each event and for score keeping, set up, clean up and even creating the specific challenge in a category. Science Olympiad Alumni are especially welcomed back to help make this tournament a special event for the next generation of Science and Technology professionals.

The General Volunteers will run sales at the NCSO merchandise tables. We also need help checking in the volunteer staff, registering the teams upon arrival and a photographer who can provide their own camera.

Event Leaders will run each event - this includes set up, clean up, running the exam and grading/ranking final scores as well as directing your cadre of volunteers. An official NCSO training will be held to go over all rules/regulations for all Event Leaders.

The various event Volunteers will assist the Event Leaders with exam set up, proctoring the exam, grading the exams, reporting scores to the scoring room and cleaning up the exam rooms. No specific scientific knowledge is needed to help in this capacity. To learn more about each event, please read a brief description of all events here.

Complementary lunch is served for all volunteers in the scoring room that day. Thanks so much for giving your time to help the kids further their love of science!

Mission Statement

North Carolina Science Olympiad (NCSO) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to attract and retain the pool of K-12 students entering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) degrees and careers in North Carolina. Every year NCSO hosts tournaments on university, community college, and public school campuses across the state. These tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of different hands-on, interactive, challenging and inquiry-based events that are well balanced between the various disciplines of biology, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, engineering and technology.

Description

Thank you so much for your interest in the North Carolina Science Olympiad. We are always looking for good people to volunteer to help us run tournaments, create events, develop curriculum, send out mailings, be event leaders, and spread the word about the NCSO. We cannot exist without volunteers. They are our lifeline! We rely on their donations of time, money, and supplies to continue to offer the services we provide. Opportunities for involvement at many levels exist across the state of North Carolina.
