Living in an adopted country is not easy. Reading signs in the grocery or on the street, notes home from teachers, or mail can make a person feel like an outsider. YOU can help someone feel a part of their world by helping tutor English Language Learners! Classes happen Monday and Thursday mornings in Spanish Fort, AL at Goodwill Gulf Coast Community Center (behind Publix). You can also help simply by talking and listening to a person who needs to practice English, or using our curriculum to teach simple English rules and phrases, or civics toward passing the citizenship exam. You will be assisting an onsite instructor (so you don't have to know it all yourself)! You don't need to know a second language yourself--you will be using tools that will help your student. Whether you are conversing one on one or helping in the classroom, you will be making someone feel grateful and more at home!
DUE TO COVID, SCHEDULING MAY BE MODIFIED. Please bring a facial covering, plan to social distance, and allow a health check upon arrival.
Goodwill Gulf Coast's Mission: Together, we empower people through encouragement, education and employment! You can help people with disabilities or other limits to reach higher, go farther, and live a more full life.
Goodwill Gulf Coast provides child development, adult education, training, and employment, and medical and family support services, business services like piece work production, and environmental sustainability (electronics and material recycling services).
