We need a few volunteers to help with shoveling snow this winter from the sidewalk along Wayne Road (at the corner of Marquette St.). It's not the most glamorous of volunteer opportunities, but it is vitally important to keep the sidewalk clear during the winter. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Volunteers would preferably live near the property so that they can keep tabs on when the snow needs to be removed.
ABOUT THE PROPERTY: The Marquette Prairie Preserve is a 7-acre remnant prairie adjoining John Glenn High School in the City of Westland. The property runs from Wayne Road to the school along Marquette Street. It is one of the only natural prairie areas remaining in southeast Michigan. We will have a number of work days scheduled for this coming spring removing some of the invasive plants in the prairie. This is a wonderful site that could really use your assistance!
