The Membership Coordinator VISTA will be an essential member of the team for this young non-profit organization. Under the guidance of the Development Officer, this person will manage membership tracking, communications, and reports using the donor database eTapestry. This person will also improve member appreciation methods, expand the major donor and planned donor giving programs, and coordinate quarterly fundraising appeals.

The mission of Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is to support the parks departments operating in Truckee Meadows, including Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County parks. We do this primarily by providing in-park programming and opportunities for citizen engagement. TMPF is an independent, nonprofit organization that began operating in 2013. Our current programs focus on improving community health and wellness and developing people’s appreciation for the natural and cultural history found in local parks.

Service Location: Reno, NV

Timeline for Service: January 2019 - January 2020

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain the database to track member donations;

• Improve protocols for initial contact, cultivation, and stewardship of donors;

• Organize quarterly TMPF member-only events;

• Research donor and fundraising appeal best practices;

• Coordinate quarterly fundraising appeals and assist with additional mailings;

• Assist with developing community partnerships to support TMPF;

• Continue to develop fundraising strategies and materials to support TMPF operations;

• Assist with events and programs;

Qualifications

• Ability to pass a background check;

• Bachelors degree and/or one year experience in fundraising, grant writing, and/or networking;

• Passionate commitment to TMPF’s mission and vision;

• Exceptional writing skills;

• Experience in membership programs and databases;

• Experience in and willingness to solicit for and acquire donations;

• Strong communication skills;

• Strong organizational skills;

• High degree of initiative and spirit of service.

AmeriCorps VISTA

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation’s Membership Coordinator VISTA is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and will serve within the AmeriCorps VISTA program. AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Each VISTA member makes a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. Compensation

In return for their service, AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a modest living allowance of $1,026/month, 10 sick days, 10 personal days, and health benefits during their service. VISTA members also have the option of receiving a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,920 or post-service stipend of $1,800.00 after completing their service. A relocation travel allowance of no less than $550 may also apply if you are moving. TMPF also offers flex time, mileage reimbursement for service-related travel, monthly professional development opportunities, a casual dress code, and a fun office environment!
