Decatur Cooperative Ministry is in need of volunteer assistance on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day!
In order to allow our staff to spend these days at home with their own families and to ensure that our clients have a warm place to spend the holidays, we ask that volunteers help us keep our emergency shelter for families with children open. Volunteers who sign up for these shifts are not expected to provide food or entertainment; we merely request that you remain physically present on the premises during the entirety of the shift.
At present, we have several shifts in need of coverage.
Please visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d4dafab28a3fd0-christmas to see available shifts on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Please visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d4dafab28a3fd0-newyear to see available shifts on New Year's Day.
Please note that anyone interested in this opportunity will need to submit to a background check. If you wish to sign up for a shift and haven't volunteered for DCM previously, please fill out our volunteer application (https://www.decaturcooperativeministry.org/dcm/volunteer-at-dcm/) and indicate in the Additional Comments box that you are interested in providing holiday staff relief so that we can begin this process.

Mission Statement
The mission of Decatur Cooperative Ministry (DCM) is to help families facing homelessness settle into safe, stable homes and build healthy lives filled with peace, hope and opportunity.
Description
Founded in 1969, DCM originally served as a coordinator of services provided by local churches and community agencies. In the early 1980s, DCM narrowed its focus towards the alleviation and prevention of homelessness with the creation of an emergency shelter program, a transitional housing program and a homelessness prevention program. Between 2012-2015, DCM further expanded services to include emergency assistance to Veteran households, rapid rehousing services and a permanent supportive housing program for chronically homeless families. Serving approximately 1,000 individuals each year, DCM programs provide families and individuals with the services they need to achieve and maintain long-term housing stability.
