Future City Iowa

NewBoCo is looking for volunteers for the Future City Competition on January 11th and 18th, 2020. Future City is a project-based learning program where students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future. Keeping the engineering design process and project management front and center, students work in teams to ask and answer an authentic, real-world question: How can we make the world a better place? This year's theme,"Clean Water: Tap Into Tomorrow", challenges students to choose a threat to their city’s water supply and design a resilient system to maintain a reliable supply of clean water. The competition has a few different parts: city building model and presentations of those city models. For the January 18th competition, we are looking for volunteers to help these parts run smoothly. January 18th will be held at Prairie Point Middle School 8015 Kirkwood Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. General volunteer roles are room monitors, greeters/check-in people, tabulators (people to enter scores), runners to take rubrics from judges to tabulators, and general fill-in roles as needed. We are also looking for people of college age or older to be judges for the competition. The different categories for judges are: city presentation judges, city model judges, and special awards judges. Please let us know if you’re interested and available for any of the volunteer roles for this program by signing up on the Future City website at https://secure.futurecity.org/JudgeBin/Judge/Open/Enroll for the Iowa Region.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send us an email at K12@newbo.co Thanks, The NewBoCo Team
