Make-A-Wish South Carolina serves families in every area of South Carolina and utilizes volunteers like you to transform lives, one wish at a time!

As a member of a wish team, Wish Discovery Volunteers meet with the family to help the wish child determine the wish and act as a liaison between Make-A-Wish staff and the wish family to help complete paperwork and understand the child’s one true wish. Initial meetings may take place at the wish child’s home, the hospital, or a public place (restaurant, park, etc). Currently, due to COVID-19, initial meetings are taking place virtually.
Time commitment varies depending on the number of meetings you sign up for, but each meeting typically takes 1-2 hours and we request you sign up for at least 4 per year.

Training includes a background check (around $25), and completion of a few online courses and a webinar. The minimum age is typically 21.

Mission Statement

Make-A-Wish South Carolina grants wishes to children with critical illnesses.

Description

Since 1984, Make-A-Wish South Carolina has been granting wishes to children all across the state of South Carolina. Each unique wish brings hope, strength, and joy to a child living with a critical illness.

Children can wish to have something, to go somewhere, to meet someone, or to be something. Volunteers move our mission forward by working directly with wish families - helping them throughout each step of the process. From the initial interview to find out that one, true wish to sending them off in style if they are travelling, volunteers add a local, personal touch to make the wish extra special.
