ORGANIZATION: Parents Helping Parents

About Parents Helping Parents: Parents Helping Parents is a nonprofit offering two services to parents in need: The Parental Stress Line and Parent Support Groups. Our goal is to empower parents to nurture their children, prevent child abuse and build stronger families.

Parents Helping Parents runs a network of support groups for parents who want to improve relationships with their children. Parents who attend this support group seek encouragement and feedback on often strained and distant relationships with their children. Shared leadership, trust, respect, responsibility, and positive parenting are key components of our support groups. In the recovery setting, parents are often struggling to stay connected with their children and their partner/ex-partner. Our group provides a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for creating positive and caring peer relationships. Our group focuses on building positive future relationships with ones children; once the emotional support of the parent has been strengthened, a parent is better able to actively guide and nurture their family.

The Parents Helping Parents facilitator will work with survivors of Domestic Violence to create a "safe space" where parents can support each other in their parenting journey. Parents Helping Parents seeks an outgoing person who will build relationships with survivors and will help cultivate a positive relationship with staff on site.
