Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is a large, busy, Level 1 trauma center centrally-located in Charlotte. As patients, families, and visitors come to our facility it takes a team effort to keep our Lobby running smoothly. Atrium Health is looking for friendly volunteers to help greet visitors, escort patients and families, and create visitor badges.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Service requires walking, standing, sitting and lifting. Ability to push patients in wheelchairs. Must be able to be mobile within Carolinas Medical Center.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: (qualifications)
1. Must be at least 18 years old.
2. Must complete the general orientation session given by Volunteer Services.
3. Must complete wheelchair training by Patient Transport Team and shadowing a Guest Services teammate.
4. Must be comfortable operating a desktop computer for making badges and a cell phone for using wayfinding app.

Carolinas Medical Center has created a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for adults interested in volunteering their time. We require all our adult volunteers to be 18 years of age and older. We also ask them to commit to a one year time frame of working the same shift, preferably every week. Our shifts range from two to four hours depending on the position, the department's needs and your schedule. We have a wide variety of positions and make every effort to match your availability and interests with the needs of the hospital.

Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is the flagship hospital of Atrium Health, which is distinguished throughout the Southeastern United States for its excellent patient care and medical expertise.

From modest beginnings in 1943, we have evolved into the largest hospital in the region and a world-class facility that offers a full range of services to the Charlotte community and beyond, with more than 1,100 physicians and providers specializing in all areas of medicine.

CMC serves as the region’s only Level 1 Trauma center and is an approved transplant center for heart, kidney, pancreas and liver. We also serve as one of North Carolina’s five Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals, providing residency training for more than 200 physicians in 15 specialties and serve as a satellite for the medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill.
