Haven Hospice focuses on improving the end-of-life care for Veterans. We appreciate those who have served our country and would like to know if you, as a veteran, would like to volunteer to be a patient companion. You would establish a relationship with a fellow veteran in our hospice care. Our patients are located in their own homes, assisted living facilities or group home throughout the Valley. You may need to travel a bit from your own home to meet the patient. Times/Days are somewhat flexible, however, are set to the convenience/needs of the Veteran patient/families.
You may participate in Pinning Ceremonies for individual patients and salute them for their service. We thank you for yours and look forward talking with you about joining our team.
In order to become a patient companion, you will undergo a background check, TB test and general hospice orientation.

Mission Statement
Haven Hospice is committed to providing quality care for patients faced with a life-limiting illness. The goal is to improve the quality of a person's life through pain and symptom control, emotional and spiritual support. We believe that the patient and family are intergral decision making members of the hospice team in planning and receiving care. Hospice offers an alternative to repeat hospitalizations. Hospice affirms life. It neither hastens nor postpones death, but assists the patient and family in living with a life-limiting illness. Hospice regards dying as a normal process at life's end in which we can provide dignity and comfort for the patient and loved ones.
Description
Haven Hospice reaches it's goal of supporting the patient and their families through several various disciplines. Our doctors, nurses, CNA's, social workers, chaplains, volunteers and community educators make up our caring team of individuals who know how important hospice is to not only the patient, but to the entire family.
