GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Firecracker Title IX Volunteer Advocacy Team Member delivers advocacy services at area public schools (K-12) and other organizations in Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties in Michigan. The role of the Title IX team is to work collaboratively with Students, parents and community-based organizations to provide guidance support and follow-up information to families facing issues involving sexual harassment and/or assault in the school environment,

QUALIFICATIONS:

Some understanding, experience or training preferred on the dynamics of sexual assault.
Previous experience in case management
Previous experience and training in working with the public and young people
Ability to speak to large groups of people
Record keeping and timely report filing
Knowledge and aptitude in computer use
Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
Must be committed to the concept of empowering adult and child victims and be able to relate to individuals of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Ability and commitment to follow a client case over a period of months.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with other service providers, attorneys and other community agencies and members.
On-call responsibilities to provide time response to cases as they occur. Flexible schedule may include some evenings and weekends.

DUTIES:

Respond to Title IX hotline calls made to The Firecracker Foundation regarding Title IX complaints from students and parents/caretakers.
Provide support, coordination and assistance with uniform policies to ensure a standard level off survivor centered advocacy services and coordination at schools throughout the tri-county region, always respectful of the autonomy of each family involved.
Maintain communication list for All Regional sexual assault services providers in the Clinton ,Eaton and Ingham Counties.
Provide support as requested with system partners in creating a community that is aware of and understands Title IX Federal Civil Rights laws and responsibilities.
Complete all training sessions held by The Firecracker Foundation Title IX Program.
Attend periodic Title IX meetings at The Firecracker Foundation
Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager of Executive Director.

Description

The Firecracker Foundation offers free, high quality mental health services and trauma sensitive yoga therapy for children under the age of 18 who have survived sexual trauma in the tricounty area.

The Foundation also works to provide trauma informed training and prevention skills to community members seeking to participate in preventing child sexual abuse and advocating for survivors. Advocacy programs include Pediatric Medical Advocacy and Title IX Advocacy in schools for children K-12.
