Is your group looking for opportunities to get involved in your community? McWane has volunteer projects that are perfect for your group! Check out our opportunities below and apply now.

Exhibit cleaning volunteers are armed with cleaning cloths, aprons, and the occasional toothbrush to help keep our exhibit halls spick and span (and de-stickered)!

Event help volunteers help with McWane events and special days like McWane After Dark, LEGO Day, and Earth Science Week. Each event is a little different but volunteers will interact with guests and help with activities.

Want to stimulate interest, showcase relevance, and increase awareness of the science behind your profession? In Corporate Takeover your group will take over one of our activity stations to facilitate activities that relate science to your field.

About McWane Science Center

Location:

200 19th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35203, US

Mission Statement

To spark wonder and curiosity about our world through hands-on science experiences.

Description

McWane Science Center is the cornerstone of Birmingham, Alabama's downtown revitalization. This state-of-the-art museum is housed in the historic and refurbished Loveman's department store building.

In 1998, Discovery Place and Red Mountain Museum merged to create a stimulating interactive science museum now called McWane Science Center.

McWane Science Center, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, gets its name from the McWane family and McWane Foundation, sources of funding that made the center a reality for Birmingham and the region.

Designed to inspire a life-long love of learning, McWane Science Center has welcomed millions of visitors since opening its doors in 1998. Explorers -- from ages 1 to 100 -- flock year-round to see, to hear, to touch, and to experience the wonder of science in one of the South's most unique venues.
