SOOC Soccer Team

Provide instruction to athletes of all ages and abilities who have intellectual disabilities. Athletes are placed on teams of their peers with similar skills. We provided 1:1 instruction for developing players as well as competitive training for more skilled athletes. Volunteer coaches choose the skill level they feel best matches their personality and abilities. Teams include adult individual skills, youth/teen individual skills, teen/adult tee ball, and 2 teen/adult competitive teams. Practices are 3:30-4:30p, 3:30-5p, and 4:30-5:30p.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.

Description

SOOC offers 18 sports year-round to more than 300 athletes of all ages and skill levels with developmental disabilities.
