The Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center welcomes new volunteers who are willing to help with environmental education, animal care, birthday parties, trail maintenance, mailings, special events, and more! Volunteers are an essential part of the Nature Center. We work with students from many different schools, helping them to meet their required volunteer hours or to develop their SAE projects. We also provide internship experience for those seeking a college degree. Whether you are a student in high school, or a retired resident of our community, whatever your interest or availability, we offer a variety of exciting opportunities throughout the year

Mission Statement
Our mission is to foster environmental stewardship that connects our communities to the natural world of the Lower Naugatuck River Valley, and balance the demand for recreation with the need for conservation.
Description
Our land is a typical Connecticut landscape that encompasses 150 acres of wooded hills, grassy fields, streams, and a two acre pond of which provides sanctuary to many species of New England flora & fauna.
Nature-oriented classes are provided to school-age children on weekdays. The staff makes learning fun by providing lively, age-appropriate topics tied to the Connecticut Core Science Curriculum Framework and NGSS.
