ORGANIZATION: Dogs for Better Lives

To apply for the job of office volunteer, you will first sign up on VolunteerMatch.com, complete an application and then have a brief interview with DBL's Operations Director. If selected, you will work along-side the operations coordinator to learn the receptionist job.

We need volunteers who are flexible and responsive to changes in the scope of their duties. Volunteers must possess professional work habits including but not limited to being on time, following DBL workplace policies, and arriving prepared for work. Volunteers should exhibit a positive attitude with the public and donors, and they should possess a cooperative spirit working with the entire staff and other volunteers.

Qualifications:
Computer skills
Must have a love of dogs.
No allergies or fear of cats or dogs.
Must love to work with people.
Must be comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Must have outstanding interpersonal and group communication skills.

Duties:
Answer phones
Tidy up lobby/reception area as needed.
Be sure the daily tour video is ready to play for tour attendees.
Make sure the brochures and sales items are well stocked and neat.
For large groups make sure to arrange to have the Conference Room set up no less than
30 minutes before a tour group arrives.
Have visitors sign the Guest Book and let them know that by signing they can be added to our newsletter mailing list by including their address or e-mail.
Perform other duties as needed including but not limited to: filing, copying, scanning, preparing
information packets, preparing mailings and other duties as assigned.
Must understand Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & Calendar.

Description

Dogs for Better Lives professionally trains dogs to become Hearing Assistance Dogs, Facility Dogs, and Autism Assistance Dogs. We do this at a minimal cost of an application fee to the client.

Dogs for Better Lives travels to the client for an interview. Following the application process the dog is delivered to the client by the Certified Assistance Dog Trainer that trained the dog. The Trainer spends several days supporting the client in their daily activities with their new Assistance dog.
