Iguana

The Institute for Conservation Research (ICR), part of San Diego Zoo Global is looking for a professional Web Developer for modifications of Iguana Websites connected to Iguana conservation project. This role would take place in part at the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park and in part from home. The volunteer would work with supervisor to modify live WordPress websites to add functionality and expand capabilities of two websites. These websites are maintained by the supervisor to inform IUCN SSC Iguana Specialist Group members and the general public about global iguana conservation programs. They are also a vehicle for iguana researchers and fundraising for these programs. The websites are viewed by thousands of people and are part of our commitment to support the IUCN, as well as directly benefiting several SDZG iguana programs (in the Caribbean and Fiji).

The volunteer should be a professional-level web developer with skills in WordPress, CSS, and php, etc.

Initial projects include:

Set up secure Contact forms for ISG and IIF sites.

ISG site: Develop a searchable "photo gallery" for our collection, including metadata, to be visible as thumbnails for all and larger and for download for members with login.

ISG Virtual Library: Remove "password reset" functionality under Preferences tab when non-admin users login to ISG Library (non-WordPress site). Make "Member Login" on Virtual Library more prominent (upper right currently) change to "button". Move "about" away from upper right and maybe put it in the menu bar next to "workspace". Redirect the "forgot your password" link to my Contact Us page.

IIF site: Replace SlideDeck with something compatible and free.

Make all sites "Mobile responsive" and potentially set up Search Engine Optimization.
