We are gearing up for another OSHA-10 Construction Safety Training!
OSHA-10 Construction Training is a ten hour course where workers learn about their safety rights on job sites, and how to prevent and identify hazards in the workplace.
At Workers Defense we know that Texas is the state with the HIGHEST rate of mortalities in construction than any other state.
We also know that Texas is the ONLY state that does not require companies to have Workers Compensation for their workers.
Enough is enough!
In order to change that, we want to make sure that our construction workers have access to a low cost safety training in Spanish. Our next training is on December 8th and 9th and we need your support to spread the word about our training.
We are need of Spanish Speaking Volunteers to pass out information and collect their contact information to register for our next training at the Mexican Consulate, "Pulgas", labor corners, etc.
We also are in need of English Speaking Volunteers to go to business to ask store managers if WDP can hang our flyer about this safety training.
If you are bilingual, you can support in both!
Time and commitment: Flexible! (let's work together on your availability)
Please email me at elizabeth@workersdefense.org for more information

Mission Statement
Workers Defense Project is a membership-based organization that empowers low-income workers to achieve fair employment through education, direct services, organizing and strategic partnerships.
Description
WDP was founded in August 2002 by employees and volunteers of Casa Marianella, a local Austin shelter, to address the problem of unpaid wages for Austin’s low-wage workers. We are a worker center and part of a national movement of organizations that seek to provide low-wage workers with the resources they need to improve their working and living conditions. The project provides a source of power and hope for low-wage workers who have little access to these important resources. WDP is one of the few organizations in Texas working to address workplace abuse faced by low-wage workers. The organization is one of the most established worker centers in the South and a leader in fighting for fair conditions for working people.
WDP opened the Houston office in 2017.
