ORGANIZATION: HEAD FOR THE CURE

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

The mission of Head for the Cure is to raise awareness and funding to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy.

We accomplish this by hosting a series of 5K runs/walks and other events to raise funding in support of brain cancer research benefiting local beneficiaries and our national beneficiary, The Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC). We also provide support through our programs including Brains for the Cure, survivor luncheons and other community engagements. All of these events and programs allow us to raise funds, awareness and hope for the brain tumor community.

Description

Head for the Cure supports several research programs through two primary vehicles: First, our scientific partner, the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC), housed within the National Institutes of Health (NIH), receives roughly half of our grant funding. This is used to design and launch multi-center clinical trials within a national network of top cancer centers.

Second, another half of research grants go to brain cancer clinics and advocacy groups nationwide, in cities where we host Head for the Cure 5K events.

In addition to direct funding of research through grants, we operate other programs to support the community. These include our patient navigator Brains for the Cure, our Keeping the Faith program to honor inspiring survivors of brain tumors, and our new Community-powered Fundraising program where we offer coaching and support to people starting their own events and fundraisers.
