The Health Trust is an operating foundation founded in 1996. Our mission is to build health equity in Silicon Valley. We believe everyone should be afforded the opportunity to be healthy - especially the most vulnerable. To that end, we provide direct services, fund community-based organizations whose work aligns with our mission, and advocate for policies and initiatives that help advance our mission.

We know that building the equity we seek requires the involvement of the entire community. The generosity of our donors and volunteers plays an integral role in helping us deliver quality and culturally competent services that meet the health needs in our community that would otherwise go unmet. That is why we offer deeply satisfying engagement opportunities for volunteers, whether you're an individual or a group looking for a rewarding experience.

Join us - together we can ensure that everyone's health matters!

As we do every year, we are celebrating March for Meals on Wheels. For the last 19 years, the Meals on Wheels network has claimed the month of March as its time to join forces to strengthen the impact of its efforts and rally communities around what we all do. During March for Meals, we’ve collectively raised millions of dollars in support of our local program and recruited tens of thousands of volunteers, champions and lifetime supporters, like you.

This year we are distributing emergency kits to over 400 Meals on Wheels clients to ensure our seniors are disaster-ready. We are asking volunteers to donate drawstring backpacks filled with 2-3 bottles of water, small flashlight, extra batteries, whistle, mini first aid kit, hand sanitizer and a face mask.

Volunteers have three options, they can:

- Purchase the items, assemble themselves, and coordinate a drop off with our Community Partnerships Team at The Jerry Larson FOODBasket.

- Purchase the items off our AmazonSmile, Target, or Walmart wishlists and we will assemble the bags.

- Donate through our website and select "Emergency Kit Drive" as the "Designation". This will allow us to purchase the items and assemble the bags ourselves.

Lastly, emergency gifts need to be turned in by Sunday, February 28th.

Feel free to reach out to our Community Partnerships team at volunteers@healthtrust.org or 408-961-9862 if you have any questions.

Mission Statement

Our Mission: To build health equity in the Silicon Valley.

Description

Our Vision:

The Health Trust believes every Silicon Valley resident should have the opportunity to live a healthy life.

How:

We at The Health Trust believe that if Silicon Valley is a community where innovation is changing the world, then it also can be a community where innovation changes the lives of everyone - especially our most vulnerable residents - for the better.

As we strive to make our vision reality, we reflect the values of Silicon Valley. When we tackle a problem, we take the broad view. We rely on expertise, partnerships and best practices to generate solutions that will have the greatest impact on those we serve. We invest in projects that are sustainable, show measurable results and provide the greatest return on investment for the community.

With a strong emphasis on prevention, we focus our work through three initiatives: Healthy Living, Healthy Aging and Healthy Communities. Through direct services, we are helping one person at a time. And through policy advocacy and grantmaking, we are changing the local environment to promote healthy eating, healthy aging and healthy living.
