Position Title:

Food Pantry Coordinator (16 hours weekly)

Population Served:

The population served is Residents of Catholic Charities properties, clients of Catholic Charities, and neighbors from the Richmond and Creston-Kenilworth neighborhoods.

Position Description:

The Food Pantry Coordinator oversees the operations of the food pantry, including but not limited to supervision and coordination of food pantry volunteers, purchasing and restocking of food pantry items, cost and quality control, coordination food delivery, monthly statistics and reports as required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain inventory by placing orders with the Oregon Food Bank as well as ordering/purchasing food and non-food items from local stores.
  • Train and supervise food pantry volunteers.
  • Coordinate food delivery, including but not limited to scheduling pick up orders, inform volunteers about pick up location, date, and time, and coordinating funds for gas/maintenance on company vehicle.
  • Updates and modifies food pantry menu as needed.
  • Packs food pantry order and stocks shelves as needed.
  • Responsible for implementing food pantry policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • e. Minimum age of 18 years
  • e. Completed Catholic Charities Position Application and background check
  • Candidate should have experience supervising volunteers or coordinating a food pantry. Knowledge of or have an understanding and respect for culture diversity. Willing to work with individuals whose first language is not English.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication and the ability to plan and organize multiple work tasks as well as good interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Must have basic knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and database software.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and must have the ability to give and receive information clearly.

Education:

Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent. Additionally, 1 year experience of coordinating a food pantry is preferred.

Certificates & Licenses:

Candidate must have a valid Oregon Class C driver license with current automobile insurance, and must be able to complete ServSafe Food Handler Guide for Food Banking through the Oregon Food Bank.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. There will be some lifting, carrying, unloading and moving of food products involved. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities or special needs to perform the essential functions.

Training Needed:

The Oregon Food Bank requires some online training for volunteers that will be provided upon volunteer placement. Some on-the-job training will be provided.

Time Commitment (include start/end date):

Flexible schedule, but would need to complete 16 hours a week M-F.
