We at the Albany Police Athletic League (PAL) are delighted to bring the 22nd Annual Price
Chopper/Market 32 Capital Holiday Lights in the Park to the Capital Region. This year we are reaching
out to anyone interested in volunteering to help set up the light displays, decorate the Lakehouse, and
help during the show. Volunteers are needed every night from November to January (with the exception
of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day). The Holiday Lights are not only a
period of festivities that allow children and families to connect with their local communities and enjoy
the holiday season, it is also a fundraising event that allows PAL to cultivate many other programs for
the youth of Albany throughout the rest of the year; these programs range from athletics to After School
Clubs and everything in-between.
Volunteers will be assisting in operating PAL’s events during the show, as well as performing
easy set-up and after show services. During the festivities volunteers will be able to give back to area
children by photographing them with Santa and take photos with their favorite characters. These
actions may make a large impact on children’s lives, and when combined with the displays will create
lasting memories for anyone who comes to enjoy the Lights in the Park.
Volunteering may be for one or several nights and many local heroes are needed to operate the
events. Flexible scheduling is available for anyone interested as to allow for the best possible
volunteering experience.

Mission Statement

The Albany Police Athletic League's work within the community began in 1988, with the simple goal of creating a community bond between the youth and law enforcement of Albany. Since 1988, we have cultivated strong and resilient relationships between the law enforcement community and the youngest generations of Albany. Today, the Albany Police Athletic League brings together cops and kids through a variety of after-school activities, summer camps, clubs, and sports programs. Through these partnerships, we hope to develop strong leaders who think critically, work hard, and act compassionately. We serve approximately 2,000 Albany youth every year, and continue to grow every day.
