Join San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity as we relaunch our Home Repair Program with a Home Repair Blitz! We are excited to kick off this program with a 6 unit, 9 family development in need of some TLC. No experience necessary - bring your great attitude and a willingness to learn and we'll teach you the rest! Better yet, bring a friend or be ready to make new ones! We'll need 25 volunteers Tuesday - Thursday, February 26 - 28 and 80 volunteers on Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2. Sign up on our volunteer website: www.sgvhabitat.volunteerhub.com. Questions? Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Description
Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Habitat is not a give-away program. In addition to a 1% down payment and monthly mortgage payments, each homeowner family invests 500 hours of their own labor -- sweat-equity -- into the building of their house and the houses of others.
