About our Holiday Store: Our Holiday Store is where we make a significant amount of our yearly income to support our transitional employment and job training program for folks experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Those who are in the training program make over 40 types of products using materials we grow on the farm, including food products, bath and body products, and dried-flower wreaths. Each holiday season we have a network of over 100 volunteers who support the holiday store. The store is entirely volunteer run, meaning that the profit we make goes directly toward supporting our programs and folks transitioning out of homelessness. Interested in volunteering at the Holiday Store? Read info below! Customer Service shifts are Monday - Sunday, 11am - 2pm, 1pm - 4pm, 4pm-7pm. Volunteering in the store begins Nov. 13th (or sooner) and goes through Dec. 24th. All volunteers must attend one orientation training before their first volunteer shift. Once you attend an orientation, I will add you to our online work scheduler, so you can select the shifts you'd like to work. Orientations will be hosted at the store location, 1338 Pacific Avenue. on Wednesday, Nov. 6th at 4pmand5:30pm as well asThursday, November 7th at 4pm and 5:30pm. You only need to attend one orientation. If you can not make it to either of these, let me know and we can schedule another time! Feel free to forward this email onto anyone you know who might also be interested in volunteering at the store, we could use all of the help we can get! Let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you at an orientation!

Mission Statement

In the soil of our urban farm and garden, people find the tools they need to build a home in the world.

Description

The Homeless Garden Project provides job training, transitional employment and support services to men and women experiencing homelessness.

By bringing people together from throughout our community in the beauty and security of our certified 3.5-acre organic garden, we hope to break down the isolation and stigmas associated with homelessness.

We practice and teach principles of economic and ecological sustainability through classes and hands-on experience.

We invite you to the Garden from dawn to dusk. Enjoy a moment or a day away from your busy lives, take a stroll in our garden, volunteer one morning or participate in a long-term project.
