Crisis line counselors provide a vital link to those in our community who are in need of immediate assistance by answering the Stand Up Placer crisis phone line. Whether providing referrals and resources to the caller or simply listening to someone who needs to talk, our crisis line counselors are trained to handle the wide variety of calls that come into the crisis line each day. This opportunity requires completion of our 68-hour crisis intervention training.

Description
Stand Up Placer is dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Placer County. Volunteers are imperative to helping us accomplish our goals as an agency and in giving the support that is needed to our clients. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities that include Crisis Line Counselor, Clerical Assistant, Community Outreach Presenter, Legal Advocate, Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Group Facilitator, Handy Person, Thrift Store Associate, and Event Assistant. Those that wish to work directly with clients will need to undergo our 68-hr Crisis Intervention Training. The curriculum for this training is mandated by the Office of Emergency Services. The training is offered at NO-COST to volunteers and is a great asset to anyone seeking a career or pursuing a degree in law enforcement, social work, social services, psychology, sociology, counseling, etc. Volunteering with Stand Up Placer will give you hands on experience.
