POSITION SUMMARY: OMSI is hosting the 3rd Gingerbread Sculpture Competition, highlighting engineering and innovation through this grand holiday display of creativity and architecture. Eight teams compromised of bakers and AEC design teams will collaborate to create one-of-a-kind gingerbread sculptures to be on display throughout the holiday season. Volunteers will serve as door greeters to this six-week long special event, ensuring all guests have an OMSI wristband before entering and assisting with any and all general questions. Volunteers will also serve as craft table supervisors to support the guests in creative coloring and origami construction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Greet guests, check for wristbands and provide an overview of exhibit.  Support the guest crafters by ensuring supplies are available and organized.  Give clear directions and provide accurate information about events happening throughout the museum.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Currently seeking volunteers at least 14 years of age.  Strong customer service and communication skills.  Outgoing personality.  Able to speak in public and respond clearly and promptly to customer inquiries.  Able to sit or stand in a designated area, making adjustments to positioning as needed to interact most effectively with visitors.  Able to maintain a calm, pleasant, and cheerful demeanor in a variety of atmospheres, including busy, crowded conditions.  Able to listen and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and age levels as well as present a professional appearance.  Dependable and punctual.  Self-directed and willing to take initiative.  Willing to follow OMSI rules and procedures.
