Title: Outreach & Engagement (O&E) Volunteer
Address: 131 W. Midway Dr. Anaheim, CA 92805
When: Mon - Fri anytime between 8a-5p (We are flexible with students schedule).
Western Youth Services’ O&E program provides services which include individual case management (coaching and goal setting to strengthen independent living skills etc.), referrals and linkages, workshops (one time training on topics such as bullying, health relationships, anger management, coping skills, etc.), and groups (short or longer term groups focused on a particular subject) for at-risk youth, transitional age youth, and their families. We provide services in homes, at schools and in other public locations, ensuring that services are accessible to anyone who needs them.
Volunteers will shadow staff members and support in co-facilitating and facilitating workshops, support groups, and working with clients to help them with life skills, among others.
For this volunteer position, having a car is highly recommended as volunteers may be asked to drive to different schools and other locations to provide these services. All volunteers will need to complete a brief interview, live scan (fingerprinting process), and Orientation prior to volunteering.
About Western Youth Services
23461 South Pointe Drive, Suite 220, Laguna Hills, CA 92653, US
Western Youth Services seeks to improve the quality of life in our community, maximize human potential and promote culturally sensitive self-sufficiency through programs which prevent and treat mental, emotional, social, educational and behavioral problems of youth and their families. WYS promotes community partnerships in the planning, development and implementation of its programs.
Western Youth Services (WYS), founded in 1972, is a community-based non-profit agency that provides prevention and mental health treatment services for troubled youth and their families. WYS programs include children's mental health clinics throughout Orange County; services in Family Resource Centers in Anaheim, Brea, Fullerton, La Habra, Orange, Westminster and Huntington Beach; and counseling and crisis intervention services for the Orangewood Children's Home, a facility that cares for abused and neglected children. In public-private partnership with the Orange County Health Care Agency and local School Districts, WYS also provides services on-site in public schools throughout the County. WYS employs nearly 200 staff, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, family counselors, and support personnel. It also serves as a training site for clinical interns. A volunteer Board of Directors comprised of professionals from business, human services, health care, and education governs the agency.
