ORGANIZATION: YOUNG PEOPLE OF THE NEXT GENERATION INCORPORATED

One of the proven ways to motivate students to build a record of achievement in high school is to show them examples of men and women from all ethnic and economic backgrounds who went on to college or got some other kind of post high school education that allowed them to build successful careers that elevated their lives. We are looking for men and women from all walks of life to interview about their education. YPNG mentor interviews are being produce in collaboration with TCC at their recording studio in the TCC Creativity Center at 9th and Boston and will be archived on our website. There will also be the chance for this mentors who are interested to participate in an online video classroom where mentors can interact with students and answers questions about their career path.

Mission Statement

YPNG is a mentoring program targeting underprivileged kids in grades 8-12. Our programs are designed to motivate these young people to build a record of achievement in high school by showing them how good grades will open doors to scholarships and financial aid and admission to good colleges and training programs that will lead to a rewarding career, giving the students and their parents help with the college application process including applying for scholarships and financial aid.

Description

One of the proven ways to motivate students to build a record of achievement in high school is to show them examples of men and women from all ethnic and economic backgrounds who went on to college or got some other kind of post high school education and built successful careers that elevated their lives. We are looking for volunteers willing to be interviewed about their education and career experiences. YPNG mentor interviews are being produce in collaboration with TCC at their recording studio in the TCC Creativity Center at 9th and Boston. There will also be opportunities for career mentors to interact directly with students.

The OK’s Promise application and the FAFSA application that is used for most scholarships and financial aid requires financial information provided by the parents, We are developing a cadre of individuals to work with parents who need help completing these forms.

The YPNG website was developed and is being maintained by volunteers. We are always looking for creative people with experience in website design to help us keep the site current and keep the growing content easy to access.
