Ending the cycle of homelessness. We do this in cities across America, one at a time. We strive to build communities where all young adults know care, feel loved and have a support system to help them move quickly from surviving to thriving.
Once we’re successful in helping kids get off the streets, the real test begins. If it takes 3-12 months or more to get someone into housing. It may take twice that long working with them in an apartment environment before they feel fully capable and comfortable with taking care of themselves. Apartment support mentor teams will monitor their situations, and help young renters build the life they deserve.
Building stable homes
Apartment Support may include, but is not limited to, helping with the following:
- Assistance in locating and taking care of an apartment
- Life skills training, including the fundamentals of living alone and supporting one's self
- Developing a follow-up plan after being placed in an independent living situation
- Job seeking and maintenance
- Weekly food baskets and nutrition planning
- Clothes
- Furniture

Description
The Houston chapter has been in operation since 2005 running different programs to relieve homelessness. We started with Street Outreach at the Montrose neighborhood by reaching out to the homeless young adults and giving them non-perishable food, clothing and hygiene products. In 2011, we were fortunate to obtain a center to accomplish our Drop-In program. Through the Drop-in center, the clients have a safe place to socialize, to enjoy a hot meal and to take with them basic necessities such as hygiene supplies, clothing, shoes and food. For a few hours at the center, the youth can take the advantage of our services and resources. We provide help in obtaining ID, resume preparation, and resources for housing. Our third program, Apartment Support, emerged in 2013 to provide food and housing supplies to clients who were able to obtain housing through various grants.
The schedule for the programs are as follows:
- Street Outreach: Tuesday nights from 6:30 - 7:30 PM & On Weekends
- Drop-in Center: Friday nights from 6:00 - 9:00 PM
- Apartment Support: during weekends
