My name is Darius Jones, I am the Emergency Culinary Director for Catholic Charities and am responsible for providing meals to the house less and food insecure communities here in Portland.

I am asking Volunteer Culinary team consisting of 3-4 cooks (w/Team leader), prepping/cooking for approximately 100-300 meals a day at St Francis Dining Hall. We’re also looking for volunteer drivers, deep cleaning, organizing, packing/handing out meals!

Banquet cooking Chopped/Top Chef Style. The menus will be a collaboration of myself and the volunteers on a day to day basis. I’m asking for your help to build a menu on the fly, prep, cook and clean from all of the donation ingredients in house to prevent food waste as much as possible! We ask to prep ahead as much as possible setting yourself up for success and the next team for success!

Shifts will be a 2 day commitment, Days of operation are Mon-Fri, 0900-430 pm. This will be in place for as long as the need continues to serve OUR community!

Safety gloves, face masks will be provided if you do not have one & proper spacing will all be provided.


The only thing that I ask is for you to bring Sharp knives, flexibility, no ego, hard work, creativity, open mind, heart, patience and the will to help your community in need!
