About Fresh Approach
Fresh Approach is focused on building equitable, resilient food systems in the Bay Area. The mission of Fresh Approach is to create long-term change in local food systems by connecting California communities with healthy food from California farmers and expanding knowledge about food and nutrition. We accomplish our mission through a variety of programs, including the Mobile Farmers’ Market; VeggieRx; Collective Roots Gardening; and the East Palo Alto Community Farmers’ Market. We believe that everyone should have equal access to healthy foods, and that the health of our communities and the livelihood of our local farmers should go hand-in-hand.Volunteer Description
Fresh Approach is now seeking volunteers for Mobile Farmers' Market produce pick up at the Concord Farmers' Market. The Mobile Farmers' Market is a farmers' market on wheels, bringing fresh, California-grown fruits and vegetables to neighborhoods all over San Francisco Bay Area.
Volunteers are expected to pick up orders from farmers, arranging produce for display and storage on truck, and assist program staff in other route preparations. Volunteers should expect to lift produce crates weighing 50 pounds repeatedly, some bending, and light walking. It is a fast-paced morning where you get to interact directly with farmers and set the truck up for success throughout the rest of the day.

Our programs empower families to make sustainable lifestyle changes by expanding their nutrition, cooking, and gardening skills, and by boosting their access to local, affordable produce.
Local farms benefit, too, as our programs make it possible for small farms to sell in communities that would otherwise lack access to their products, while helping farmers diversify their sales through guaranteed weekly orders.
This grassroots community empowerment has a ripple effect that supports small family farms, promotes sustainability and responsible stewardship in agriculture, breaks down systemic barriers, and strengthens the local economy - all while growing community interest in healthy eating.
We believe that everyone should have equal access to healthy food, and that the health of our communities and the livelihood of our local farmers should go hand-in-hand.
