Taking place on Nov. 17, 2018, Family Volunteer Day is a day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities and neighborhoods. Powered by generationOn, the youth and family division of Points of Light, and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company, this day of service helps families strengthen their bonds to their communities and each other.
Volunteering is a great way for kids and adults to make new friends, develop compassion for their neighbors, and even pick up a new skill or two! It’s an amazing day - don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!
SDRVC is sprearheading a Family Volunteer Day event and volunteers are needed to help plant 75 plants in a demonstration garden/native habitat area within the Gonzales Canyon Open Space Preserve. Saturday, November 17 at 9 AM. The meeting location will be the trailhead on Sword Way.

Mission Statement
San Diego Canyonlands' mission is to promote, protect and restore the natural habitats in San Diego County's canyons and creeks. We do this by fostering education and ongoing community involvement in stewardship and advocacy, and by collaborating with other organizations.
Description
During the monthly events, we would like volunteers to help us remove trash, invasive non-native plants, plant native plants in restoration sites, maintain trails, and do other exciting work to enhance the canyon. Our urban canyons and creeks are critical to the health of the San Diego ecosystems.
