Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

Are you interested in volunteering with Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas for our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA)? Over the past several years we have offered VITA services to low and moderate income families, on site at several locations. This year we are expanding locations and capacity to serve more of our brothers and sisters in need. We are looking for a consistent group of volunteers to prepare taxes in several of our Family Support Centers. Volunteers would need to complete either online or in person training and pass the certification. We ask for a commitment to volunteering with the program from around the first of February to mid-April. Days and hours will be determined by location once we have a group of volunteers on-boarded, however VITA is typically offered a few days a week during our open hours (8:30-4:30 M-F). Shifts can be half or whole days. Volunteers are needed in Atchison, Leavenworth, Lawrence and Wyandotte County.
