Pet Visit Volunteers and their four-legged friends are the life of the party. Pet visits truly enhance people's outlook on life - when you bring your certified pet to visit with a hospice patient, you give them an opportunity to experience the joy and love that animals provide, ease their pain and bring back comforting memories.
Duties include: Visiting hospice patients with your certified pet.
Hospice volunteers are a crucial part of the hospice experience and are valued by patients and families for the personal touch they bring to an emotional process.
By becoming a hospice volunteer, you experience the personal fulfillment of impacting another person's life at a critical time. Hospice volunteers report feeling that they are making a contribution to the community and doing a service they would hope others would do for them in their time of need.
Volunteers help hospice patients in a variety of ways. They can provide:
Companionship to patients and families
Veteran-to-veteran service through pinning ceremonies or supportive visits
Bereavement support to families
Reiki, yoga or other healing arts
Pet Visits- must be certified through Canine Good Citizenship or have similar certification
An emotional boost by sharing musical or other artistic talents
