Bread of life Christian Mission is seeking dedicated Christian individuals who would be willing to give 2 to 4 hours a week tutoring a child. There are no special skills required; however, a loving and patient attitude is helpful. This is a growing program that really makes a difference in a child’s life, we need your help!!!
The Bread of Life Christian Mission After School Program has been in existence for over 24 years. We have helped over 400 students since 1993, some have even become accounts and lawyers. We believe that education holds the key to a better future for these children.
We meet two days a week: Tuesday and Thursday from 3PM to 5PM for Elementary school age students and 5PM to 7PM for middle school age students. We assist students with their homework and use grade appropriate educational materials to help build skills in reading, math, vocabulary, social and study skills.
We are a Faith based ministry. Each session begins with prayer and a group snack before splitting up to go to their volunteer tutors. A 20 minute chapel time is included in the program to expose the children to the Gospel. Included in chapel time is Bible reading and Prayer.

Mission Statement
Mission Statement The Bread of Life Christian Mission was founded in August 1993 to respond to the immediate needs of low-income families in the Plant City and adjacent areas. Since we opened our doors, we have reached out to more than 3000 families, mostly of the farm worker community, providing them physical and spiritual nourishment. Our main goal is to train people in life skills that will help them provide for themselves and to become educated, productive citizens for this community. We believe that education holds the key to a better future. To accomplish this goal, we have offered many different educational programs. Designed to serve these people's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, the Mission hands out Bibles, offers Worship services, Sunday School, and Prayer/Bible study meetings. Through all our programs we offer these families an avenue to become independent from the social services programs, and the hope of knowing Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
Description
In August 1993, Reverend and Mrs. Santana founded the Bread of Life Christian Mission in Plant City, Florida to respond to the immediate needs of low-income families in the area. The majority of these families are from the migrant farm working population. Because of the language barrier, these families miss out on the opportunities and benefits this community may offer them. More than 3000 families have been ministered to through the different programs the Mission offers. Designed to serve these people's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, the Mission runs a Thrift Store to offer very low cost clothing, appliances etc. (always accepting donations), offers groceries to those in need, hands out Bibles, offers Worship services, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Prayer/Bible Study meetings, Youth and Women's groups. Education and training are stressed as the best tools to help themselves improve their impoverished life styles. The Mission works with the children by offering an after school tutoring program. This gives the students a safe place to be as well as get help with their homework. Shoes and school supplies are also provided at the beginning of each school year. In 1997 a scholarship fund was established, and since then 4 high school seniors from farm working communities have received this award each year. English and Spanish classes are offered whenever possible. A clothes closet and food pantry are other ways the mission reaches this population.
