Headquartered in Berkeley, A Better Way is a comprehensive foster adoption agency providing foster and adoption, mental health, family strengthening and community training services to at risk children and families in the Bay Area.

A Better Way’s staff works with children and families, many of whom live in our communities’ most impoverished and violent-ridden neighborhoods. These children and families are mostly struggling with homelessness, intergenerational poverty, incarceration, family estrangement and various types of abuse.

During the holiday season, A Better Way hosts a dinner event as a token of "love and gratitude" to our hard working and committed staff. However, this year, we are unable to hire a caterer due to budget constraints and we decided to do it ourselves. We are cooking the dinner for 150 people and our senior staff is helping with the decorations and music.

We need volunteers to help us with bar tending, salad prepping and other small tasks before and during the party!!!!!

Mission Statement

A Better Way’s mission is to empower children and families to develop the insights, life skills and permanent relationships that promote their social, emotional, educational and economic well-being.

Description

A Better Way was founded in 1996 as a Foster Family Agency. Since then, we have grown into a comprehensive child and family services agency, providing foster care and adoption services, parent advocacy, community training, family strengthening and mental health services to children and families in, or at risk of entering, foster care. A Better Way has provided foster homes to more than 2,000 children and finalized 300 adoptions. Annually, we serve nearly 1,250 children and family members through our programs, many of whom live in our communities' most impoverished and violence-ridden neighborhoods.
