We have all been touched by cancer. You can fight back by joining our team of staff and volunteers working at the local, state and federal levels to make cancer prevention, early detection and research a national priority.
Our volunteers work closely with ACS CAN staff to make fighting back against cancer a priority for lawmakers at all levels of government. We'll work closely with you to make sure that activities suit your interests and skills and that you are well prepared with the knowledge you need. This role is adaptable to a variety of time commitments and skill levels. The only requirement is a shared interest in seeing a world free from cancer.
Whether you have an hour a week or 40, we have opportunities that fit will fit your schedule and make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Activities may include:
- Participating in cancer action days in Concord
- Participating in meetings with legislators
- Sending a letter of introduction to your elected officials
- Sending letters to the editor and opinion pieces to local media- we'll help you write these!
- Social media activity - sharing
- Gathering petitions at community events
In recent years, New Hampshire volunteers for ACS CAN have been instrumental in helping to protect teens from skin cancer, fighting back against Big Tobacco, and ensuring Granite Staters have access to health care. This year, we're working to ensure that prescription medications are more affordable for cancer patients and to ensure that teens don't become addicted to tobacco products before their brains are fully developed.

If we are to succeed in our mission to end suffering and death from cancer, it won't just happen in the doctor's office or research lab. This movement must start at the statehouse and in Congress. And, it will be led by volunteers - regular people whose lives have been impacted by cancer - rallying together to demand change from their elected officials.
We are the organization empowering volunteers to do just that - influence change and impact the future of cancer. From gaining dramatic increases in funding for cancer research to ensuring all Americans have access to cancer care, our work is saving lives and leading to new innovative breakthroughs in how to fight this disease.
