Our volunteer doctors make our Mobile Vision Clinic Program possible, donating hundreds of hours to perform over 2,000 eye exams annually. Join us to help meet the growing demand for accessible, affordable vision services. Partnering with Sight for Kids (Georgia Lions Clubs and Johnson & Johnson) KIA, and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, we aim to screen students in at least 25 Atlanta Public Schools (APS) in 2024-25, up from 22 schools last year.
We conduct 1-2 school clinics per week and seek optometrists willing to volunteer on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays in APS, Fulton County, or Clayton County schools. Our focus is on 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders.
If you’re a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist interested in volunteering, please contact us!
Mobile School Clinics: How They WorkGeorgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, Inc. serves uninsured and underinsured Georgians. We primarily work with Title I schools, bringing mobile eye exam equipment to partner schools. We provide all necessary tools; just show up ready to serve!
Clinic Flow:Screenings: Students in focus grades are screened with a handheld autorefractor. Screening takes 1 minute per child, with results indicating "pass" or "refer." Referred students receive comprehensive exams.
Examinations: Doctors assess referred students and prescribe corrective lenses as needed. Prescriptions are sent to our Chamblee lab, and glasses are delivered to students within 4-6 weeks, at no cost to families.
