The L.A.C.E.R. Afterschool Programs seeks volunteers for an after school college admissions essay workshop Hollywood High School. We're looking for dynamic volunteers that can help our after school students brainstorm, edit, and proofread their personal statements/personal insight questions.

Interested? Here’s what we’re asking of our volunteers:

  • Experience working with adolescent youth in an educational/academic setting.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Experience working with youth one-on-one and in small groups.
  • Familiarity with the college application process and current requirements.

LACER's goal is to provide a creative, safe and well-supervised environment where youth can explore the arts while enhancing classroom and experiential learning. With the help of LACER, engaged community members evolve and future leaders emerge.

Description

The L.A.C.E.R Afterschool Programs provide free classes in the arts, athletics, and academics every day after school, to more than 4,000 middle and high school students in Los Angeles. L.A.C.E.R. is creating opportunities, building academic skills, and preparing students for their future. We offer free services to all students who are registered at our six sites (Bancroft MS, Fairfax HS, Hollywood HS, Irving MS, King MS, and LeConte MS).
