The Shining Light Tree Lot is open during the holiday season from the day after Thanksgiving to mid-December on the property of McCarthy Building Companies. Patrons can purchase trees, wreaths and other holiday items. The lot is a tradition which began in 1951 with the founding of the Delta Gamma Center. All proceeds benefit the Delta Gamma Center.
We sell several Christmas trees, wreaths, and holiday decor and gift items in our boutique. This event requires volunteers to be outside during winter conditions and requires some heavy lifting.
We need over 300 volunteers throughout the time the lot is open. Working the tree lot is an opportunity for teams, churches, schools, civic organizations, and families to come together in the spirit of the holidays.
To volunteer follow the link to view the schedule. https://timecounts.org/dgckids/opportunities#menu

Mission Statement
The mission of the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments is to help children who are blind or visually impaired reach their full potential through family-centered, specialized services and community support.
Description
In 1951, a group of Delta Gamma alumni from Washington University started a local organization to serve the needs of young children with visual impairments and blindness. The founders of the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments set forth on a mission to provide educational services for children in the earliest years, prior to the start of school, with an emphasis on guidance and training for their parents.
The core service offered consists of home-based educational services for infants and toddlers, birth to three years, who are blind or visually impaired and their parents/caregivers. The scope of services has expanded to include occupational, physical and speech therapy services, as well as a wide range of individual and group support services for families with children of all ages, through high school graduation.
The center is the only organization in the metropolitan area which addresses the early intervention and support needs of families and children with vision loss. In 2006, the center received the "Spirit of Children" award from the American Society of Pediatrics. Presented "for outstanding efforts to improve the welfare of all children in the St. Louis metropolitan area," the award reflects the organization’s commitment to excellence.
The center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Governed by a community - based board of directors, the center is a well established and respected organization in the community.
