IT Computer Wiz Kids Inc. is currently seeking qualified and enthusiastic candidates to fill the following part-time openings teaching youth, young adults, afterschool, evening and weekend programs:

  • Coding/Programming Languages, Intro to App Development utilizing Scratch and Code.org
  • Computer Building, Gaming -Hardware A+/Network, IC3 & IC4Instructor
  • Senior Citizen instructors teaching basic computer and advanced skills

We are looking for IT instructors, college students, teachers, IT enthusiasts, and professionals to assist our instructors in teaching IT classes

The mission of IT Computer Wiz Kids (Wizkids) is to give youth and adults the confidence to pursue careers in Information Technology (IT) and the computer industry in a fun, exciting, learning environment and to provide technology education and job training that will prepare them for life. As a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization Wizkids is committed to teaching youth and adults about technology from underrepresented and underserved communities. Through virtual hands-on, experiential team-building activities and a life skills-based interactive approach, we uncover people's talents and guide them through multiple Information Technology (IT) learning development channels. Our students range from K- seniors because it is never too soon or too late to learn. Our Techno Savvy Seniors (A division of IT Computer Wiz Kids) program unites youth instructors with senior generations in bridging the Digital Divide.

Instructors will teach students (K-12) introductory computing principles via Google Hangouts, Classroom, and Zoom using PowerPoint presentations, online-videos, hands-on exercises and group activities that encourage class participation. As an instructor, you will work with beginner to advanced-level students in third grade through high school. The topics to be covered will include introduction to computer building and troubleshooting, coding, and programming (description below). In addition, you should be prepared to teach students about internet etiquette and safety and discuss "soft skills" which are required for success in the workplace, providing them with the stepping stones to pursue careers in IT . We will offer students who have never opened or touched the inside of a computer the opportunity to troubleshoot and repair computers. They will be taught networking and programing that will enable them to pursue careers in information Technology (IT) and the computer industry, without leaving their neighborhood.


  • You must enjoy working with youth and have a belief in students’ potential and confidence in your ability to make a positive difference in their lives.
  • Technical training and/or classroom teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience teaching children in grades K-12 and seniors.
  • Good communication, creativity, teamwork and professional skills.
  • Experience using Windows Windows 8/10 and Apple Computers
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite 2016 and Office 365.
  • Teaching Certifications and/or IT Certifications or the equivalent experience is a plus.
  1. Instructor - Hardware, Desktop Support, Gaming, A+/Network, IC3 & IC4: As an instructor, you will teach a wide range of children and youth, so communication skills and patience are a necessity. Giving them hands-on training and exposure to all types of technology, and preparing them for choices of exposure, internships and employment in the IT industry. Our instructional system is state-of-the-art, flexible and adaptable as needed with a tangible outcome preparing young people with the skills covered in A+ or IC3 & IC4 certifications.
  2. Instructor - Coding/Programming Languages & App Development: Instructors will teach students basic concepts and skills required in programming/coding and introductory programming concepts that will allow them to engage in free-form coding. Instructors will teach students the fundamentals of coding by introducing them to languages including HTML, Javascript and C++ through youth-oriented programming featuring a series of web and app projects using SCRATCH, CODE.ORG and app tools. They will learn how hardware is programmed using languages similar to C++ which will serve as an entry point for learning how to program. As an instructor, you will use interactive programs online as a tool to teach students the basis concepts of programing. Our goal is to build a solid foundation in the various coding languages that will prepare them to build their own apps and program in any language. After students master the basic concepts outlined above, we will introduce the following concepts using hands-on activities: Java fundamentals, If and switch statements, loops, static methods, arrays, introduction to object-oriented Programming
  3. Instructor - Senior Citizen instructors teaching basic computer and advanced skills You will teach Seniors about all aspects of computers from basic keyboarding to assembling and disassembling computers. In addition you will instruct them how to back up their computer data to the CLOUD, troubleshoot common problems and how to safely surf the internet. You will teach a six-session course to assist them in creating email accounts and setting up profiles on social media sites to reach out to their grandchildren and other relatives by email and instant messaging. You will teach them critical security settings on Facebook and other social media sites. Our unique program brings dedicated senior friendly instructors virtually to senior facilities who teach all the ins and outs of computers. Sessions are fun, interactive and informative.

General Duties for Instructors:

Applicants must complete two ninety-minute volunteer training sessions. Classes will be held once or twice during weekdays for 1-2 hours between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays or Sundays from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. As an instructor, you will work to build students’ confidence and advise them how to make informed choices (personal, professional, and educational) to help them attain their career goals.

Mission Statement

Youths will learn how to speed up computers, back up data, protect and remove spyware and avoid fatal viruses. The cutting-edge educational skills youths attain will provide them with a bridge to becoming productive and self-sufficient adults. Participating students who demonstrate sufficient interest and proficiency are mentored and trained to teach various segments of the course curriculum. As their confidence increases, IT Computer Wiz Kids’ interns are able to teach and serve as peer mentors to their fellow students, and contribute to the program’s growth. IT Computer Wiz Kids continues to attract adult IT professionals who demonstrate a passion to guide youth and young adults for careers in information technology.

The program’s focus is to serve underprivileged and at-risk youth who reside primarily in the greater Washington D.C. area. All activities are conducted around established school-year calendars with classes being held both during class time as well as afterschool and on weekends as well.
